Condition-based maintenance (CBM)

In many cases, maintenance based on predetermined and fixed cycles is not affordable today. No matter if this concerns manufacturing plants, seagoing vessels or construction machines: fixed periodic maintenance intervals result in unnecessary shutdown times, high logistical expenses, and thus they also result in unnecessary costs. Condition-based maintenance – here maintenance work is planned on the basis of measurement values – promises to save a large amount of these costs.

A reliable connectivity is necessary in order to be able to introduce condition-based maintenance. This is more than just data transfer. Measurement values must be evaluated and packed already in place. Based on variation of values, trends must be identified and reported. Finally, the various methods for early detection must be combined with each other and connected to other systems (road maps and action plans, order system for replacement parts).
